This is the definitive work on Berg I believe. This is Adorno at his best. You might already know that Adorno is notoriously difficult to read- as in his Philosophy of Western Music- but this is wonderful.

not entirely vintage Adorno,yet lightyears beyond academia

Adorno first met Alban Berg in Frankfurt during a festival of new music in June 1924. Excerpts from Berg's opera "Wozzeck" was being performed. Adorno ultimately studied composition with Berg but did not pursue a career as a composer rather Adornor became a brilliant philosopher of negative dialiectics with a profound work on aesthetics,his last major statement. In these short essays on Berg written over the course of his life, Adorno is at his weakest link. They are analytical in content traversing all of Berg.The "First Piano Sonata", The"Lyric Suite" for string quartet. Although brilliant, the complexity of thought we usually encounter in Adorno, dense loci of continuous cross-referencing, and associations of images interspersed with other artisitic genres is not to be found here. And in terms of pure musical analysis this is fairly basic representations,and ultimately not Adorno's possessive thinking realm.Academia today hates Adorno for his philosophical more socially-bound emphasis away from just this kind of note-for-note, moment-to-moment analysis along Schenkerian dimensions. Still there are conceptual meeting places in the center as George Perle's excellent work on the two Berg operas. And academia has much to fear given Adorno's impressive legacy of his writings on music . In this brief volume Adorno's thoughts on Berg's opera "Lulu" is the high point.And in a way we meet the more personal,conversational Adorno, a rare treat.

I'm not a scientist or Theologian, but I still enjoyed this book.

I was really happy when I received this book. I have always believed in God. And, I have always loved science. When I was younger, I was told that I could believe in Creationism and science. I always thought that God gave us the ability to do science, as well as the other things that we learn. This book shows creationism form a scientific viewpoint. The book was hard to read in some areas. But, still very interesting, none the least. Some parts I had to reread, to understand it. I am not a scientist, theologian, etc. I am just a person, who graduated from high school, that has always been interested in science and still wants to hold on to my beliefs in God. So, my review may not help. But, it is my review, none the less. I showed this book to my daughter (Sunday school teacher) and her boyfriend (Sunday school teacher and studying Theology). They said that it was a well written book. They had both heard of Hugh Ross before.

A great intro to science apologetics

While Ross' new edition of "The Creator and the Cosmos" is more up-to-date, this book remains a classic reference. The young-earthers want you to believe that their interpretation of Genesis and the flood are the literal and only way. This is true only if you read the Bible superficially and ignore many contextual and common sense problems with their theories. Nor has the "global" flood theory been the primary view. Before people stopped studying the bible with their mind, and started reading it clouded with emotion, the Local Flood was widely accepted, and here's why:
1. Gen. 7:11-12 and Gen. 8 clearly show where the water came from (earthly sources) and where it returned (into Earth). The water content on Earth today, even considering water vapor loss to space, is no where near the amount needed for a global flood.
2. In Gen. 7:19-20 we see that all "the high mountains...were covered." The Hebrew for "high mountains" can be literally translated as hills or hill country. The words for "covered" can be translated as falling upon, running over or residing upon.
3. The flood account also refers to "the earth." This can also be literally translated to refer to regions. Humanity was limited to Mesopotamia, so a local flood would still be "universal." Other examples of this usage are found in Gen. 41:56 and 1 Kings 10:24.
4. The ark didn't land on Mt. Ararat as most think (see Gen. 8:4).
5. A comparison of the pre-flood Genesis chapters to the post-flood chapters, do not show the massive geological changes that a global flood would have caused (i.e. the landscape hasn't changed at all. Noah didn't seem lost).
6. Materials created from dead organisms (oil, coal, limestone, kerogen, marble, topsoil) are far greater in quantity than a global flood could produce (global proponents claim the flood created these items in order to avoid the accepted view that they took millions of years to form. But by no stretch of the imagination was there enough life on Earth, dead or alive, at Noah's time to create all of those materials). Petroleum products were available before the flood (Gen. 6:14).
7. Evidence for a major flood can be found in the Middle East, but no consistent evidences for a global flood.
8. The Hebrew is particular in the limited types of animals that were brought on the ark.
9. All the species in the world couldn't have come from those on the ark without invoking rapid, macroevolution.
10. How does a raging, global flood produce distinct layers? These distinct layers show signs of being made by different methods (big floods, slow deposits, oceans, etc.). We don't find all life-forms mixed together as a global flood requires. No where do we find human remains with dinosaurs and other long-dead creatures.
11. YECs use limited examples of "trees in coal beds," etc., as absolute proof of a global flood. If such a flood was global, we would have clear, consistent and a great deal of such evidence. Not spotty, localized evidences.
Ross doesn't get into this until his book "The Genesis Question." While young-earthers resort to emotionalism, hand-waving, and superficial bible reading, Ross calmly and scholarly presents his view for discussion and debate.

Reveals the "behind-the-scene" reasons for conflict between the two with kindness and sensitivity. Todo a la vez, llegando preparados y evitando desaprovechar esas oportunidades de oro.
Finalmente, nuestra propuesta es que: preparándose bien en las áreas más sensibles del Marketing, entendiendo bien los mercados en los cuales deseamos participar, aprendiendo los principios básicos de ventas del desarrollo de marcas (qué mejor que la nuestra), aprendiendo a crear una buena imagen y comunicarla adecuadamente a la sociedad para lograr sobresalir y finalmente saber negociar estratégicamente cuidando nuestros intereses y balanceando nuestras actividades personales y profesionales, muy posiblemente consigamos lo que nos proponemos obteniendo más control sobre nuestra vida y nuestras actividades. Con esto creamos mayor demanda por lo que hacemos o al menos aumentamos significativamente las posibilidades de competir más eficazmente para lograr nuestros objetivos, ya sea dentro del mundo corporativo o trabajando para ti mismo con las ventajas y limitantes que cada uno de ellos conlleva.

Hace poco volví a Central Park. Un trompetista hacía su lucha entreteniendo a los transeúntes. Se veía muy feliz, haciendo lo que realmente disfrutaba. Un grupo grande de adolescentes intercambiaba bromas en un ambiente de gran camaradería y relajamiento. ¿Qué nos cuesta conservar esto?
